Appliance Removal guide

What to Do Before a Refrigerator or Washer Pickup

Disconnect utilities safely, empty the appliance, control loose parts, and tell the pickup team about every threshold and stair.

Name the appliance and its condition

A refrigerator, washer, dryer, or range has different weight, connection, and recycling considerations. Share the make and approximate size if known, whether the appliance works, and whether it contains refrigerant.

Disconnect it before the pickup window

Utility disconnection may require a qualified person. Do not pull a gas range, hardwired appliance, or water-connected machine away from the wall unless you know it is safely disconnected. Confirm expectations before the appointment.

Prepare the appliance

Remove food, water, detergent, lint, racks, and loose shelves. Defrost freezers early enough to prevent leaking. Tape or secure cords and hoses without covering model or safety information that may be needed.
