How to Prepare Yard Debris for a Pickup
Keep green waste separate, control long branches, and make the path from the pile to the loading area easy to assess.

Separate by material
Branches and leaves are different from soil, concrete, treated lumber, household trash, and chemicals. Dense or mixed loads can change the equipment and disposal route, so make the separation before requesting an estimate.
Make the pile measurable
Estimate length, width, and height. Note the longest branch and whether material is wet, thorny, tangled, or compacted. A wide photo and one close view give more information than a tight crop.
Check the access route
Measure gates and note steps, slopes, soft ground, irrigation lines, and the distance to legal parking. Do not drag material across a path that could damage landscaping or block a shared walkway.

- Soil, rock, concrete, and treated wood separated
- Gate width and carry distance noted
- Thorns, sharp ends, or unusual weight disclosed
